Starting all over

![]() "Another year over, but we still together". With every new year, comes a chance for us to renovate and become whoever we want to be. That what I love most about new year's. This year, to start it up right, I (finally) changed the blog's layout, and also created my side project (Mi Chiamo Moda). And I know, I know. People are supposed to post their resolutions and what not before the year starts, but I was traveling. Anyway, let's get to the good part. A Little Message For You, 2011: 2011, I thought we had an agreement. You would take things slowly, and I would enjoy the moment. You broke your part of the agreement, but I didn't break mine. 2011 really was a great year for me. So many things changed for me, and even I, as a person, changed too. Started the year in Brazil with my family and friends (so I guess you could say that I started it with BANG!), and then later, in March/April, went to Italy with my italian class. That was, indeed, a trip and I will never forget all the memories shared and the friends I made (ma come mi manchiii!!!). Graduated High School (even when I thought that was impossible), went to Brazil again, and then decided to not go to Arizona State University (the reasons behind my decision would be too long to fit here, so I'll save that to some other time). Came back to Brazil, where I met amazing people that I want to cherish for as long as I can. Went to Rock in Rio (YES!). Some people got it my life, while others left. I grew as a person and learned to not take things for granted (how cliche of me, I know). Friendships were tested, and feelings started to "blossom." But even with its ups and downs, 2011 was a great year. One of the bests so far. 2012: The year has barely started and you are already proving that you will be good. I have so much to look forward this year, and I'm really hoping you won't disappoint me. Starting the year in Disneyland ("the happiest place on Earth") already made you special, and I hope all the magic from that place can be transferred to you, 2012, throughout the year. Vegas, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Tahoe, carnival, trips with friends, trips with the boyfriend, college,... I had such an amazing year last year, that I don't even know what to ask of you. I guess I could ask you the same thing that I asked of 2011: take things slowly. Take your time, that I'll be sure to take mine. Let's see if you'll be as good as 2011 was. Oh, and please, try to not end on December 21st. The goals: I'm proud to announce that I was able to achieve at least 3 of my least year's goals. I did become healthier (although I did not lose the weight I wanted), I did get more than a 23 on the ACT, and I sure was happy. Now, let's see if I can accomplish this year's goals...
C'mon 2012, this is it. Make me proud!

Confessions of a High School Senior - THE END
( Tuesday, August 16, 2011 @ 8:05 AM )
(Yes, that's a very bad picture of me on my graduation. And yes, I do realize that I graduated 3 months ago, but as they always say: Better late than never, right?) Time passes. It seems like it was yesterday that I was walking down the halls heading to my first class ever in an American school. I can still remember how nervous I was, looking shyly to the sides. Class had just started and as I sat down, I realized how different my life was going to be from then on. Well, 4 years passed and as I put my cap and gown on this fine Friday afternoon, I can't seem to get used to the idea that high school is over. I went to a lot of schools in Brazil, never staying more than 2 years in them, so it does mean a lot to me that I was able to stay at one place for 4 years. I got used to the faces of my peers, and the voice of my teachers. I got used to meeting up with my friends everyday for lunch, and bugging my teachers for help. I even got used to eating the shitty cafeteria food that I usually ate for lunch. Yeah.. things are about to get real from now on. Now, it's time to put our big girl's and guy's shoes and get out of here. All I can say is: Thank you for the amazing four years, BHS. Now, let's make some history :)

Talking Babies
( Sunday, March 20, 2011 @ 9:06 AM )
![]() When I was a little kid, I wanted either a little brother or a little sister. I wanted that since I was 5 years old, but my mom didn't want to have another kid (one was enough for her) and my dad already had two kids. By the time I was 11, I realized I wasn't going to have someone to play with, or teach everything I knew, or be my best friend for ever and ever. Besides, I didn't wanna be 11 years older than my sibling because I wouldn't be able to truly identify with the kid (it would end up being like me and my brother who are 11 years apart and in two different moments of our lives). The reason why I wanted a little brother, was because I would love to be able to buy nice little baby clothes for him, play soccer with him, teach him the basic of skateboarding (I know how tot skateboard. Shocker, right?), help him with his homework, not let any girl get near him. his mom and I should be the only girls in his life, and, best of all, I wouldn't have to share my daddy's attention, therefore I could still be daddy's little girl. With a little sister, it would probably be the same. I would buy her nice dresses, play Barbie with her, and teach her everything I knew about boys and relationships. The only problem with having a baby sister would be being daddy's little girl. I didn't wanna share my position with anyone! On March 17th, 2011 I found out, through my almost 30-year-old brother, that my step-mom, who is 15 years younger than my father, is pregnant. WTF? My father will be a 48 year old dad, I will be a 19 years old sister, and my brother will be a 30 year old big brother. My world turned upside down with the news, and I couldn't wrap my head around it. I still can't. How come when I wanted a little sibling no one wanted to give it to me and now that I'm old enough to actually have a kid on my own, I get a baby brother/sister?

The Pros and Cons of Being a Female
( Sunday, February 20, 2011 @ 11:59 AM )
![]() There are a lot of things that comes from being a.. well.. female, and, unfortunately, most of them are not always great. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love being a girl and I love the fact that one day we will rule the world, but once a month I think about all the bad things that are related to being a woman, and then I wish, for one millisecond, that I was a boy, because "If I were a boy..." Pros:
Cons:
Wow. Up until now, I didn't actually realize how suck-y our lives are. I mean, I'd still rather be a girl than a boy, but.. Damn. The are definitely more cons than pros. I still believe, however, that one day we will rule the world. Seriously! It's all written in the stars. Just look at Hilary Clinton, and Dilma (Horrible example, I know, but hey! At least she is a woman.. I think.) The time for us to be recognized is finally coming. Women of the World: REUNITE! (PS: If any guy reads this, now you know how much our lives suck. So, please, do us all a favor and be nice to us when we are cranky, and don't choose your video-game over us, because, you know, when you are sad and want a kiss or maybe something else, we are the ones who will be there for you. Not Call of Duty IV, or whatever the name is!)

Here's a toast to staring new...
( Thursday, December 30, 2010 @ 9:57 AM )
![]() This is it. Another year over. Well, let me just start by apologizing for the lack of posting here, even though I said that I was gonna post way more often. That is something that I'm looking into and plan to change on this upcoming year. Now, let's really start the "nostalgic-yet-refreshing" last post of the year. Thanks: Although a lot of people feel as if this year was horrible and the worst ever, I will have to be the one, as always, to be on the opposite team. 2010 was such an amazing year. So many things happened this year, that made me grow up a little more and even see certain things more clearly. I went to Brazil TWICE this year, I turned 18 (but still act like I'm 14. I wonder if certain things will ever change...), I learned that the past is the past and the best thing that life provides you with is the capacity to move on, I learn that people will always change and the only thing you can really do about that is try to accept it, I was disappointed and learned from my mistakes, I learned to live every moment and not worry too much about the future, I learned to love even more that I thought I was capable of, I learned that it was okay to cry every once in a while, I celebrated 1 year with the person that I love the most, I met awesome people, I was accepted to my first choice University, and, to top it all, I got accepted to my Italian Exchange Student programing in my school and will be lucky enough to go to Italy next year. So, thanks 2010. Thanks for being such an unforgettable year. Thanks for reuniting me with my family twice, and for providing me with such amazing experiences. I will miss you. 2011: Please be good to me. I'm not the luckiest person with odd years, but I have a feeling that you will be just as good as the year that has passed. So many great things are bound to happen in 2011, that the only thing that I wish is that it could go way slower than 2010. 2010 went by too fast, and in a blink of an eye, it was gone. So please, 2011, go slower, to give me time to take it all in and really enjoy the moment. Italy, graduation, Arizona, work, Rock in Rio, Brazil,.. so many great things are sure to happen in this year that comes. So, please, don't disappoint me either. The goals: Every year, I make new goals to start off the year. I don't know if this is a Brazilian thing, and I do know that most of the time I forget about them, but I do enjoy having some goals to start the year. I don't have a lot to wish for this upcoming year, so here are my 5 goals for 2011 (in case I think of some more I'll post them here later):
So this is it. I'm ready for you, 2011. Bring it on :)

Confessions of a High School Senior - part 2
( Sunday, December 26, 2010 @ 6:03 PM )
![]() "We're glad to inform you that you've been accepted to..." Ah, the most magical phrase somebody can ever read from a letter. That's it. You are done. You know you can go somewhere now, and you know that your future is going to be great. But, to be honest, it's 17798472i430x better when you read those words from your first choice. The school of dreams. The one you worked so hard to go to, and they want you. I, literally, cried when I got my acceptance letter from Arizona State University, my first choice. Although the school is known for it's hard-partying ways, I fell instantly in love with Arizona and the Journalism department and I couldn't see myself going anywhere else. However, I did not get into the Journalism department. I got accepted for my minor, which was English (creative writting). See, that's the thing about American Universities: You can get in the school, even though you didn't get into the major you wanted. But that's okay, you know why? I talked to the ASU representative in California and I changed my major from English to "Undecided" in the Downtown Phoenix campus (so now I pretty much will live in the Phoenix campus AND I will be able to take all of my clases as if I was a Journalism student), and if I get a 24 or more on the next ACT (and more than a 3.00 on my GPA, which I already have), I might be able to go straight into journalism! That's why it's okay no matter what. When you get your acceptance letter from your first choice, you just know that it doesn't matter what other school you are accepted to. Your destiny has already been sealed :) (Oh, I also got accepted into Drexel University, which is an amazing university, but just not for me. Like I said, once you find your school and you get accepted to it, the rest does not matter.) So, now I wait to get the other acceptance letter, re-take the ACT and pay my enrollment fee. I'll tell you guys more about that next time. It will be a whole new thing. I can't wait college is basically right around the corner. What happened to time?!

Confessions of a High School Senior - Part 1
( Friday, October 15, 2010 @ 11:25 PM )
I really wanted to do a post in between the series posts, but I didn't have the time. So, I'm sorry if this look sorta of unorganized and ugly, you know, with two posts kinda of similar (although, really different at the same time). Oh, and I also apologize for not posting when I said that I probably would. Yeah, sorry about that. In the past 2 weeks, I've applied to all of my California State Schools AND a few private ones. No, I don't know why I'm applying to the private ones, considering that the chances of me going to one is rare, but Jessica, Will's college counselor, is driving me crazy with the college apps, and telling me to apply everywhere (so, tip #1: although college counselors are one of the best things in the world, don't forget to tell them the exact places that you wanna apply, and don't be like me and actually say no when you don't wanna apply somewhere), but she is great and I would be completely lost without her. So, I started applying to some private schools that apparently wanted me (they will send you an email offering you a scholarship or a fee waiver or something), you know, the ones that I didn't have to pay for the application process, and now I'm enrolled in "The Common App," the website for all the applications for private colleges. So, let me tell you something about college applications (for every single college). If you are like me and live in California, there are three websites that you need to go. "The Common App," if you are applying for a private school; "CSU Mentor," for all of the California State Schools; and the UC (University of California) website which I do not know, because I'm not applying there. All of the college websites are really great, because all you gotta do is fill out one really long form, and then, the next school you apply to, all of your information will already be there waiting for you to click "next." If you, like me, want to go out of state, make sure to check the school's website and apply there (like what I'm doing with Arizona State University, per example). Oh, if you are applying for a private school, don't forget to write your personal statement, which should talk about you and an event/person that define who you are. And, if you are applying for private schools, you need to get a recommendation letter from a teacher or a counselor, so make sure to get on that. I didn't know that I was applying to a private school until today, so on Monday, I need to go talk to my high school counselor and ask him to fill out my recommendation letter (which Drexel University already provide me with, but I was dumb enough and threw it away. *sight). Ok, enough about private schools. For the California State Universities, I applied to Northridge, Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, San Jose, and San Francisco, all for the journalism major and the English minor. I did not expect San Francisco State to be as demanding about journalism as they are. They expect me to know a second/third language (thank god I know three), have worked with journalism before, write a journalism essay, send them a copy of an article that was on the newspaper,... It's funny though, because San Francisco is supposed to be my safe school, and it's turning out to be one of the hardest to get in. Ironic, isn't it? Well, that's all I've done for now. Next week, I think that I'm gonna send my ACT scores to all of the schools that I've applied. Ugh. Being a High School senior is not easy. Whoever said that this is the best year of high school was seriously under the influence. (PS: Sorry about this super long post. I'll try to make the next one much shorter!)

Confessions of a high school senior - intro
( Sunday, October 03, 2010 @ 6:49 PM )
![]() As everyone knows, there is nothing better than getting done with something. Especially, high school. I've been waiting for a little more than 3 years to get out of my school; I've been ready for a little more than a year, and in a little more than 7 months, I'll be moving out of here and getting ready to start an exiting new chapter in my life: COLLEGE. Well, everyone always talks about how college is fun and etc, but no one really speaks up about everything you have to go through to get there. Well, this is about to change. There will be about 6 or 7 posts titled: "Confessions of a high school senior," and in each post I'll be talking about whatever I had to do for college (personal statements, college applications,...). maybe I'll even do a video blog about it.. who knows?! ;) (PS: This was supposed to be post # uno, but I still need to check a few things with my counselor, so I'll start doing my college applications on friday, so as soon as I'm done with that, I'll come back here and tell you guys everything I learned from that experience, the colleges I applied,... - not that you guys care at all, or that anyone reads this haha I just wanted to share, like I always do, about the struggles that we, seniors, always have to go through.)

"To be or not to be..."
( Thursday, August 26, 2010 @ 5:05 PM )
I get bored with myself easily. I like to think that i'm about a 1224687 people in one. I can be entertaining, annoying, bitchy, nice, sweet, You see, I have the tendency of changing who I am at least once a month, and every time school starts or some other thing big happens (like new year's, per example) I have the tendency of changing my hair color or some other little detail in me or in my life. I've had highlights, curly hair, wavy hair, straight hair, side bangs, short hair, medium hair, long hair, black hair, blond The reason I'm saying all of this, is because lately I have been trying to find out who I really am. Who is at the core of me. I have to write a speech about me, and a personal essay about me and who I am, but how the hell can I do such thing when I can't even define myself?

Dear "..."
( Monday, August 16, 2010 @ 10:20 PM )
Why do you need to keep reminding me about how "fat" I look or about how I'm never gonna be what you want me to be? I thought you were supposed to be my friend. I thought we were supposed to have a caring relationship, and I know you think you're doing your job, but let me tell you something: YOU ARE NOT! Instead of building a loving, respectable and friendly relationship with me, you are building a hating relationship with the only person that you will have left in this entire world. You've been putting me down ever since I can remember. In fourth grade, you wanted to make me repeat a whole flipping year because I went to summer school for math, and I'm never gonna forget when you sat next to me in my room, and basically yelled at me calling me a loser. How do you think a 10 year old felt when one of the people she loves the most said that to her? How the flipping f*ck is that 10 year old supposed to grow up and become a confident and successful woman, when all she's ever heard was how she will never be perfect? How is she supposed to become independent when all you do is treat her like a little baby? How is she supposed to love you, when all you do is hurt her and make even more self-conscious? Yeah, you are right. She won't. You gotta re-evaluate your values. What is more important to you? Having a healthy and good relationship with me (one which I'm happy, fit [because the only reason that I don't go to the gym is because you're always trying to force me to do so. I'll go on my own pace], and in good terms with you), or having the unhealthy relationship in which we have now (a relationship that consists in me wanting to never have to see your face again)? It's all up to you.

the art of getting re-used to stuff..
( Friday, August 06, 2010 @ 8:57 PM )
![]() Yes, I'm back to same old California. School starts in two weeks, and it's that time of the year in which I have to start to get re-used to the same old things. I need to get re-used to not being awaken with a kiss by my dad first thing in the morning, to not see my grandparents every day and eat with all of my family 5 days in a row, to not write in a weird keyboard, to not go out on thursdays/fridays/saturdays/sundays, to not have the friends that I have in Brazil, to not drink and get drunk with my friends and have them take care of my drunk ass later, to not share clothes with my best friend, to not go to the beach, to not enjoy a gathering with all of my friends just because they wanted to tell me "see you soon. have a safe flight home", to not give my grandma a kiss every five seconds, to not go sleepover at my best friend's house, to not get home at 5 in the morning, and to not be near the people that matter the most to me. I'm gonna miss Brazil so much. I hope these 4 months go by really fast. I can't wait to be back home. Until then, I'm gonna get re-used to waking up at 6:00am everyday to go to school, to complain about some stupid teacher or stupid person in my classroom, to complain about the amount of homework given to me daily, to fill out college application forms, to ask teachers to write my recommendation letter for college, to go out with my friends, to go the community college in order to graduate and get my diploma, to prepare myself for my school play's auditions, to go to the gym at least 3 times a week, to be on a diet, and to try my hardest to enjoy my last year of high school. Everything went by way too fast.. Labels: Brazil, changes, United States

berço do samba e das lindas canções...
( Thursday, July 22, 2010 @ 12:01 PM )
(Pretend that there is a picture here, because Google Chrome is being dumb and refuses to let me upload one. I'll put one as soon as I'm back!) No, Bruno did not kill me (haha? was it too soon?). I'm alive and I'm in one of my favorite places in the world: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's been a little over a month since I last posted something in here, and I wasn't going to post anything untill I was back "home" (after being gone for two years, I forgot that home is where the heart is, and my heart was/is/will always be here!), but after a few really cute people asked me on formspring to post something, I decided to do one post while I'm here. It will probabbly be just this one, and it will be more of an update on what I've been to, rather than something deeply emotional or whatever. The reason to that is that my head has been like a rollercoast for the past 2 weeks and a half, and I honestly can't think about just one thing anymore. I've been thinking about 3 things per second, and that's driving me i n s a n e! Anywaaays.. What up, world? My life? Oh, it's been pretty good. What I did today? Oh, let me see.... nothing. Absolutely nothing. But hey, I'm about to go do my nails soon, so I'm not complaining (I mean, if you leave in the US, then you know that you can't really get your nails done over there, because it's so flipping expensive! Who the hell wants to pay U$30 or up to go get their nails done? And I'm talking about actually getting my nails done, like, taking off my cuticule and everything. Yeah. That's exactly my point). But hey, whatevs. I'm on vacation, and this is what summer should like, you know? Doing nothing all day, everyday, and then, when you can, hanging out with your friends and family and have fun. THIS is what summer is all about. I'm not gonna lie, though. If you follow me on twitter (which, by the way, is blocked now. I kinda of freaked out and blocked it. Maybe it will be for only a day, or a week, or a year, or forever. Who knows? It just felt right at the moment, but knowing me, I'll probably unblock it by tomorrow.. yeah, I know.. What was the point in blocking it if I'm gonna unblock it on the next day? I don't know. I stopped trying to understand myself a long time ago!), then you know that I've been getting really pissed lately with my friends. I blame that, partially, on my PMS, but I know that I can't always blame my PMS for everything. The thing is.. it's not even my fault. It's honestly life's fault. I mean, people change, right? It happens all the time. People that you used to know, become people that you knew... and that's what's killing me. Sometimes, I think that I don't know my friends anymore. They are so... different. And I'm not even sure if it's a good different or a bad different, and it sucks how I don't have the time to find that out and get to know them, because I'm leaving in a little less than 15 days. I understand that I've been away for 2/4 years, and my friends are not 14 or 16 anymore, but they were still the same last time that I came, so I was hoping that they would still be the same this time. I was dead wrong. But hey.. that's life. You just gotta learn to dead with it.. and that's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to learn to live in a world in which my best friends are strangers, and let me tell you something, it's hard. It's probabbly one of the hardest thing that I have ever done. Harder then moving into a new country, harder than leaving everything behind. I just hope I can learn from this and grow into a better person, because everything happens for a reason! Nevermind about the whole "this is not gonna be a deeply emotional post", right? I love how I always contradict myself. Will I ever be able to not do that? I don't even know if I want to stop contradicting myself. I mean, it's part of who I am. But once again, I am a thousand people in one.

Confessions of a True Shopaholic
( Wednesday, June 09, 2010 @ 8:29 PM )
![]()
I think that there are days that every woman (young woman, old woman, really young woman, transsexual,... whatever) feels like Becky Bloom, the fictional character of "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I'm no exception. Every month, as soon as I get my allowance, I go to the mall and I spend around 50 dollars with useless crap, or with clothes that I will never wear, or with shoes that will, literally, kill me. It doesn't matter the occasion, and I do not need to have a reason. I shop just to shop, which is completely futile of me. Oh, and then, by the end of the month, I'm complaining to my friends how I never have money to hang out with them. And you know what the worst part of that is? No matter how much I try to not take the blame for my stupid and futile addiction, I know that the fact that I don't have money is all my fault. I just can't control myself around clothes, or bags, or useless crap that i will never use or will hate it in a couple of weeks, or shoes. Oh, how I adore shoes. Just today, I spent around 30 dollars on these really cute high heels from Guess that will probably kill my feet in the future. Bu they were so cute and so cheap.. I mean, how could anyone resist high heels from Guess? They are to die for. Most of them are beautiful, and the good thing is that you can use no matter what... But I shouldn't have spent my dad's hard working money on it. No, instead I should have saved the money, so I could spend it when I go to Brazil in July or in December... Ugh, does anyone know a Shopaholics Anonymous around the San Francisco area? Yeah? Anyone? Pretty please with cherry on top? I really need to stop spending money on clothes that I will not wear. Or, better yet, I need to stop with my mentality that I never have enough clothes or that I never have anything to wear. Seriously. Someone who spends more than half of their allowance in clothes every month, MUST have something to wear! I'm not rich, and I shouldn't be spending my money as if I actually was rich, and... Oh, my friend just sent a link to me of the cutest blouse ever. I gotta have it! A man will never love you or treat you as well as a store. If a man doesn't fit, you can't exchange him seven days later for a gorgeous cashmere sweater. And a store always smells good. A store can awaken a lust for things you never even knew you needed. And when your fingers first grasp those shiny, new bags... oh yes... oh yes. - Becky Bloom P.S.: Sorry for the most futile post ever written. I really needed to express how I feel towards one of my biggest love/hate relationships ever. Oh shopping, you shall be, one day, the end of me.

Diets
( Sunday, April 11, 2010 @ 5:00 PM )
Diets can be the most annoying thing EVER. So why do we, normal and wonderful girls of this magical and amazing world, subject ourselves to that? Because we want to look like those skinny photoshopped girls from the magazines. Because we were told that "skinny is beautiful". What they forgot to tell us, though, is that "chubby", or "fat", or "whatever" is also beautiful. I admit that I'm one of these people that are constantly on diets and trying to lose weight and that want to be skinny. I should, however, stop thinking that I need to be skinny and start loving my body the way it is. I do realize that calling myself "fat" won't make me any skinnier and won't take me anywhere; and that if I really want to loose a few pounds, I need to stop eating unhealthy foods and getting on weird and crazy diets, and start eating healthier foods like grass (aka. vegetables/greens) and fruits. So I pledge, right here and right now, to STOP calling myself "fat" or "obese" and that instead of keep on saying that I need to loose weight and stuff, I will actually DO something to loose weight, like eat healthier foods, not overeat and try to exercise. I, and every single girl in the universe, do not need to be on crazy diets and hate my body. God and I created this body and if I want to change it, I do not need to resort to weird methods or go under plastic surgery (oh hey, Heidi) to "change" it. I'm better than that :). Oh, and I also promise to never think of myself as "fat" again (Oh god, let's see how long this will last).

"2010 the year of no fear"
( Monday, January 11, 2010 @ 6:38 PM )
At the beginning of every year i make a new year's resolution. This year, however, I didn't make mine yet. I usually do them on the 31st of December and lose them by the 2nd of January. It's January 11 now, and I still haven't done mine (or posted here for that matter) so.. as my first post of the year, I shall make my new year's resolution here, this way I'm not gonna forget about them.
If anything, I can always add news resolutions later on.
